Case Study: Floodlit Padel Court

Floodlit Padel Court Electrical Installation At Marden Sports Club

When Marden Sports Club was installing two new floodlit padel courts, they needed an electrical contractor who could work alongside the wider project team and get the lighting ready for use.

The brief was to install the cables, connect them to the court lights, and fit a timer and cut-off switch for each court. TS Electrical was recommended by the groundwork team, and we were brought in to complete the electrical side of the project.

This was a practical outdoor installation, but as with many projects of this kind, the work involved more than simply connecting up the lights. The courts needed to be reliable and easy for the club to manage once in use.

Understanding The Setup

Padel courts are becoming more popular, and floodlighting makes a huge difference to how often the courts can be used, especially during darker evenings and in busier seasons.

For a sports club, lighting also needs to be straightforward to control. The timers and cut-off switches were an important part of the brief because they give the club better control over when each court is lit and help avoid lights being left on unnecessarily.

Our role was to make sure the electrical installation supported the way the courts would actually be used.

Getting Cables To The Courts

One of the more challenging parts of the job was getting the cables to the courts.

On outdoor projects, there can be hidden practical issues once work begins. Routes may not be as simple as they look on paper, and there is always a need to work around the site itself, the groundworks and the finished look of the space.

Rather than forcing a quick fix, we worked through the issue properly and found a way forward. The customer specifically mentioned our perseverance and expertise in solving this part of the job, which we really appreciated.

Connecting The Floodlights

Once the cable route was resolved, we connected the supply to the lights on each court and installed the timer controls and cut-off switches.

The goal was to create a setup that felt simple from the club’s point of view. Nobody wants a lighting system that is awkward to operate, especially in a busy sports environment where different people may be using the courts at different times.

Good electrical work should make life easier once we’ve left site. In this case, that meant giving the club a practical lighting system that supported the new courts without adding unnecessary hassle.

Sorting The Snags

There were a couple of issues after the initial installation, including a fault with one of the lights and a fault with one of the timers. Both were manufacturing faults rather than installation issues, but we still treated them as part of looking after the job.

Once replacement parts were available, Toby returned to site and rectified both issues.

That matters to us. We know customers don’t just judge a job by the day the main installation is completed. They also remember how problems are handled afterwards. If something needs attention, we want people to know we’ll communicate clearly and come back to put it right.

Communication From Start To Finish

The customer also mentioned Keely’s communication, saying she went above and beyond to help with all their questions.

That side of the job can be easy to overlook, but it is a big part of the service. Electrical work on a wider project can involve different trades, changing timings and questions along the way. Clear communication helps keep everyone on the same page and makes the whole process feel less stressful.

The Finished Result

The end result was a working floodlighting system for two new padel courts, complete with timers and cut-off switches for easier control.

Here’s what the customer said:

“We were hugely impressed with the work that TS Electrical carried out for us at Marden Sports Club. […] TS Electrical was recommended to us by the groundwork team and we were not disappointed. Toby was efficient and very easy to work with. […] Communication with Keely was outstanding and she went above and beyond to help with all my questions. I would highly recommend TS Electrical for their expertise and friendly and prompt communications. “

For us, this was exactly the kind of project we enjoy: practical, slightly tricky in places, and genuinely useful once complete.

Whether we’re working on a home, a business premises or a sports facility, our aim is always the same. We want to do the job properly, communicate clearly, and leave customers with an installation that works as it should.
